Could socialism lead to one world government?

The end of the 18th century saw both the end and the beginning of many things. Not only did 1798 mark the end of the 1260 years of papal dominance, as predicted and Daniel 7:25 and 12:7: it also was the portent of the industrial revolution and the scientific age.

It is difficult for us to picture the world as it was 200 plus years ago. In 1797 the first cast iron plow was patented. Mechanized farming began to receive great impetus. Not only have our methods of work changed, but also our methods of war have changed unbelievably. To illustrate the tremendous growth of the destructive power of our military weapons today, let us draw on a piece of paper a line not more than half an inch long, and let that represent the power of the one atom bomb that dropped on Hiroshima in 1946. Now draw beside it, if we can, a line to represent our present day explosive capabilities. To do this we will need a paper that will reach a distance of 167 miles! If we never had anything else to tell us, this would be enough to emphasize that we have indeed reached the time of the end, the crisis at the close.

Gabriel’s message to Daniel was given in order that God’s people, godly Jews and gentiles alike, might prepare themselves to stand in the day of final destruction. And among the messages of the angel none is more vital than the one found from Daniel 11:36 to the end of chapter 12. The angels spoke of a power that would arise in the end of the end and one which would wage an intensive war, not merely for the bodies of men, as in the days of slavery and labor camps, but for the minds of men; it’s weapons not military hardware but challenging ideas. The bitterest conflict is where men are hungry, longing for food and freedom, for education and the comforts of life. It is an ideological warfare waged in the name of humanity. Science and education are the watchwords of the new era. Those set on world revolution claim they will conquer the world by winning the minds of men. Since world war II this challenging philosophy has virtually taken control of two continents, and in its march to conquest millions of people have perished.
